All about my recent talk at West College Scotland Clydebank

I was thrilled to be invited back to West College Scotland Clydebank to talk writing and creating comics on January 23rd.

I began my long journey towards becoming a writer with an evening creative writing class in that very College, before going on to study Media and Communication there for 2 years. I have a very strong connection to the College because of this and always welcome the opportunity to go back and visit.

And that's what I did on the 23rd. I came in and spoke to the NQ Media class about the process of making comics and told tales of the many pitfalls I have encountered along the way. Perhaps the biggest being the decision to get 1,000 copies of my first self-published comic printed (WAY too many for indie level).

It was great to hear enthusiastic questions about the process, collaborating with artists, as well as some insightful chats about diversity in comics.

I also demonstrated the process from script to art by sharing script examples from Plagued: The Miranda Chronicles.

To everyone who listened to me - and to Lecturer Julie Laing at West College Scotland - thank you! I hope it won't be too long before I'm back through those familiar doors again.
